• The escalation of audacity is the impressive part though. It never starts at "fund my family's debt." It starts small, builds gradually, and by the time she is stress-eating over a grown adult's loan repayment schedule, it feels completely normal. That is not an accident. That is just how the program runs.

  And then, oh then, there is the 1k complaint. She gave money she did not have to give, for a problem that was never hers, to cover a lie she was not supposed to catch, and got a sigh about the amount. Not a thank you. A performance review. Turns out she is not just the ATM, she is also being graded on her output.

  The moment someone starts feeling bad for not solving other people's financial disasters, the dynamic has already been running for a while. Guilt does not appear overnight. It gets installed slowly, one reasonable-sounding request at a time, until saying no feels like a personality flaw.
